NAÏVE Bio
In this world everything seems to have a label. Recently I acquired a label. I am a naive artist. My art is childlike and untrained. It is a label I am proud to hang around my neck as it describes my work perfectly.
There is a beautiful nativity in each of my paintings. They are if nothing else the result of my meandering thinking. Hopefully any person looking at my pieces sees a cacophony of colour. Colors that obey no association. Collections of strange topics. Caravans, Under the Microscope, Stone Fences, Blue Berry Farms and Spring Gardens are examples of the range the works cover. There is no understanding of artistic rules. In fact the only rule is to ignore the rules. That is if I knew there were rules. I call it freedom. To know rules is a yoke.
Rules a naïve constraint. Being called a naïve artist is something I am thrilled about. It means I am acknowledged and have a home in the world of art. A rogue impressionist perhaps, but a label, nonetheless. May in the future the numbers of the naïve swell and experience the same pleasure that I do.

John Nelson
John Nelson started painting ten years ago. John paints for fun. He enjoys the freedom of expression that comes with the challenge of matching colour and theme on a canvas. It is fair to say his works are an emotional expression of his thinking.
